Twin vehicle gates with side panels

A long standing customer of AGD Systems wanted an upgrade to her fully working gate system to consist of the same twin vehicle gates (Fig.1) with side panels and a separate pedestrian gate (Fig.2) to the front of the houseĀ

After meetings on site to discuss designs and layouts AGD supplied drawings of the proposed gates as shown below (Fig.3).

The design of the Iroko hardwood gates was agreed and production started on the gates. It was decided that we incorporated the existing steel posts with new Iroko timber cladding to save cost and to support the new Iroko gates and use two new steel posts with Iroko cladding with the side panels. The automation was changed from the old FAAC 412 rams which were replaced with Came AXO mechanical rams (Fig.4) and a new control board.

We also fitted a new enclosure for the gate controls due to the original age (Fig.4). The inside keypad and post were removed and a new keypad was fitted to the inside gate post, on the outside post a new GSM intercom was fitted to replace the original and call any number anywhere in the world to allow speech and entry if they wish. An exit vehicle detection loop was cut into the tarmac driveway and sealed to allow vehicle detection for automatically opening the gates for exit.

With the pedestrian gate the original posts and gate were removed and replaced with two solid Iroko posts and a gate to match the original also in Iroko (Fig 5). The customer had opted for a maglock to replace the original mechanical lock so power was run from a source in the house to a new control box to house the controls, we also installed a power supply for the customers ring doorbell to save charging the internal battery manually every few weeks (Fig 6).

Controlling of the maglock is via inside and outside keypads (Fig 6) and the second button on the vehicle gates remote control.

The final result is a superb set of hardwood Iroko gates which will last for so many years if maintained correctly. The automation is reliable, smooth and quiet with a soft stop function at the end of the closing cycle. Matching Iroko side gate will also serve for many years to come and the overall security and privacy has been upgraded for the property and driveway.
These timber gates are about as solid as you can get and the Iroko is such a great timber specie to use on external joinery, commonly used in the marine world for boats and yachts. A naturally oily timber with great resistance to changes in atmospherics and moisture content in the air.

We have many Iroko gates in operation across the UK and many of them are well over 20 years old...
