Hardwired Intercoms

AGD Systems supply and install all of the leading makes of access controls such as Videx, BPT, Paxton, Comelit, Fermex and Bewator.

Which Intercom option is best for me?

At the gate entrance, you need to think about your preferences and options.

Do you want a flush fit or surface mounted panel?

Does the front panel need to be vandal resistant?

Can the intercom be fitted to a post set back to allow for drivers to lean out and speak?

Do you want an integral code pad or swipe card or proximity tag facility?

Do you want voice only or voice and vision?

If a voice and vision intercom is required do you prefer a colour or monochrome monitor?

The best practice (where possible) is to hardwire voice intercoms from the gate entrance back to the dwelling, (essential for voice and video versions).

This may require ground works such as a service trench(s), appropriate ducting and a degree of internal cable routing.

If utilising ducting, use draw cords and allow for draw chambers for longer awkward routes.

Power and control cables should be run in separate ducts to avoid interference of the signal.

Consideration for positioning the internal handset or monitor in the house is important as some models of intercom may require a power source close by.

It may be possible to install a Telephone Interface Kit so that the calls from the entrance can be answer from house phone.

NB: A word of caution here as most Telephone Interface Kits have been designed to work on an ‘analogue’ phone line, if you have ‘broadband’ check first, we may be able to install a filter to allow the Interface Kit to work.

AGD have had great success by installing a Telephone Interface Kit to link with standalone cordless DECT phones.
