Bi-folding Aluminium Gates

Contact was made by the customer for electric gates on a recently built driveway and piers, after visiting the customer it was agreed the gate needed to be Bi Folding due to the challenging multi directional sloping and the gap under standard gates would be to large due the opening size of standard gates if they were used.

A sliding gate was also ruled out due to the location of the piers and the rear run taking up too much driveway. Aluminium was agreed for the material as this is an exceptionally good product for Bi Folding gates due to its lightweight structure and long lasting durability. Colour was also agreed to be anthracite grey to be in keeping with the already installed anthracite grey windows. Automation was via 24v mechanical rams at the top of the gates to allow them to be manually release using a key from outside of the property in case of a power cut as this was the only entrance.

The gates were fabricated to the bespoke drawings produced, hinges and Bi Fold arms all pre-fitted to the gates and operated prior to powder coating to ensure they all worked as planned.

On installation day the holes were dug for the colour coded galvanised steel gate posts to be cemented into, ducting across the driveway was already installed by the customer prior to the new driveway being laid so AGD Systems ran all the necessary cabling from both sides to the control box through the supplied ducting and re-laid the block paving around the newly installed posts.

After the recommended cement curing time the gates were hung on the posts and Bi-Folding arms secured to the same posts along with the automation arms. Safety devices were then fitted including contact safety edges and photo beams to ensure all trap points were safely covered including a safety loop which also doubles as an auto exit device to detect cars when exiting the driveway. Control board motor sensitivity settings were also used to make the gates as safe as possible.

The under gate infills and hinge gap safety edges were then fitted to complete the gates and close of hinge gaps between the gate Leafs. Remote controls were supplied to open the gates but although offered the customer decided to use his own intercom fitted by a third party to which AGD Systems supplied the open signal cabling inputs in the control box for them to connect into.
