We have noticed a growing trend towards specifing high quality hardwoods for gate entrance projects. Wooden gate design styles can vary greatly to suit both rural and contemporary town settings.
Wooden gates need to incorporate specific design features if they are to be automated, however, this is not say that existing timber gates of a good construction cannot be successfully automated.
Wooden Electric Gates
ConstructionOur wooden electric gates are manufactured to the highest standard by skilled craftsmen using traditional hand made construction methods.
All gates are ‘ledged and braced’ with ‘mortise and tenon’ joints, all joints are spirit treated prior to assembly.
Finish Treatment
2 to 3 coats of good quality finish stain such as Sikkens or Sadolin. Alternatively, we can apply an oiled finish such as Danish or Teak Oil.
Special colours are available upon request – please supply the RAL or BS colour reference number/description.
Design Style
There are traditional and contemporary design styles available, but if you are looking for that something special – let us know – we specialise in bespoke designs.

Our wooden gates are made from joinery grade hardwood and softwood species, sourced from certificated sustainable sources.
Wood Species
- West African Mahogany – hardwood (shown above)
- Iroko – hardwood (top photo)
- Scandinavian Redwood - softwood
- Idigbo – hardwood (as shown below)

We recommend hardwoods for electric gate systems as these are best in providing dimensional stability, good resistance to rot and overall longevity when regularly maintained.
